Wem Rural Parish Council welcomed 5 new Councillors at its June meeting. Beverley Gee, Peter Marsh, Bob Parsons, Peter Slack and Liz Vernon were all co-opted onto the Parish Council.

Chair of Wem Rural Parish Council, Cllr Peter Broomhall, said “When it became aware during the recent Council Election process that insufficient residents had come forward to fill all 12 positions the Council received a number of enquiries about the vacant positions and 5 high calibre candidates came forward. On behalf of the Council, I would like to thank all who showed an interest and look forward to working with the new five Councillors. The Parish Council still has 2 vacancies, one each for Wem Ward and Edstaston Ward. Being a Councillor does involve some commitment but it is a very rewarding position and I personally recommend it.”
