Wem Rural Parish Council, along with other partners, are hosting an International Women’s Day on Friday 8th March 2024 at Wem Town Hall.
This global event happens very year and is about raising awareness of gender equality. There is also a theme for every year and in 2024 there will be a focus on digital inclusion – something that we know is an issue for people living in the parish.
DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality
As part of the day Wem Rural Parish Council would like to invite local women to share their stories to inspire other women to get involved.
There will also be a range of workshops so that women can ‘have a go’ and take part in some activities, that otherwise wouldn’t have been possible.
This is a free event and is open to everyone including children, women and men as gender equality is an issue for everyone to be aware of.
We have created a website www.iwd2024.com so you can keep up-to-date and sign up to the event. It’s not essential that you sign up as you can just drop in throughout the day – it just helps to know when planning how many people to expect.
If you are interested in taking part either by speaking, leading a workshop, having an exhibition stall then please get in touch with the Clerk at clerk@wemrural-pc.gov.uk
A planning meeting has been scheduled at the Horse & Jockey in Northwood on Tuesday 16th January at 2pm and you are welcome to join – you can sign up to this event here.
We look forward to seeing you on Friday 8th March 2024.
