Wem Rural Parish Council would like to invite you to attend the Annual Parish Meeting. This is your opportunity to meet other parishioners and local councillors and to raise questions, matters of current concern or future ambitions for the Parish.

The theme for this year’s parish meeting is Rural Crime and West Mercia Police will be joining us to share ways to prevent rural crime, listen to any concerns and to remind us about the importance of reporting crime.

5pm – Welcome & refreshments and meet local Parish Councillors

5.30pm – Presentation

6.00pm – Q&A

7.00pm – Finish

There will be a range of activities to get involved with along with some games so you can find out more about the importance of looking after our environment.

Wem Rural Parish Council in partnership with Wem Town Council are delivering a range of training and networking to help support local businesses in North Shropshire.

The next FREE Workshop is all about how local businesses can use digital media to grow their businesses and will be aimed towards small businesses on the high street as well as large companies on the Industrial Estate and many in between.

Local charities and community groups are also invited to attend and skills such as how to use AI to create content, how best to use social media and how to get your website found in search engines.

Monks Estate Agents are kindly sponsoring this event which includes the provision of refreshments.

Festive Business Networking with Christmas Quiz

Wem Town Council and Wem Rural Parish Council have teamed up to host a special Christmas Business Networking Event, offering local businesses the perfect opportunity to connect, exchange ideas, and strengthen relationships in a festive atmosphere. The event will take place on Monday, 25th November 2024, from 6–8pm at the Horse & Jockey Community Pub in Northwood.

Attendees will enjoy a delicious meal, take part in a fun-filled Christmas quiz and raffle, and even compete for prizes, including the coveted award for the best Christmas jumper! A complimentary drink on arrival adds to the festive cheer, making it the ideal setting to socialise and make meaningful connections with fellow local business owners and entrepreneurs.

This festive gathering is more than just a social event; it’s a chance for businesses to strengthen ties within the community and celebrate the successes of the year. With a fun quiz, raffle, and plenty of holiday cheer, it promises to be a memorable evening.

In order to secure your place, pre-booking is essential. You can reserve your spot by calling 01948 411470 and pre-ordering your meal at a cost of £11.95. Bookings and payments must be made at the Horse & Jockey Community Pub by 18th November to ensure participation.

This FREE First Aid Course is in partnership with Wem Rural Parish Council and St Johns Ambulance.

Training includes:

  • Emergency procedure – Recovery Position
  • CPR
  • How to use a Defib
  • How to treat choking
  • How to treat sever bleeding

Attendance Certificate for everyone.

Training starts at 7pm. Come along from 6.30pm for tea and biscuits.

Volunteers from the Wem Parish Paths Partnership (Wem P3) Group and Wem Walkers are inviting you to join us as we walk around Wem to view the Christmas lights and spend time together. We’ll also finish off at Wem Town Hall to enjoy a warming hot chocolate together.

Wem Rural Parish Council is hosting monthly community drop-ins, offering residents a chance to connect and receive support. These sessions include:

  • Age UK: As part of their Digital Skills Programme, Age UK will help attendees learn basic IT skills.
  • Shropshire Armed Forces Outreach: Providing support for military personnel, veterans, and their families, including advice on housing, benefits, health, employment, and opportunities for social engagement.

These drop-ins are a fantastic way to access resources and build connections within the community.
