On 29th June, a touching service was held at St Peter and St Paul Church, drawing attendees from both Wem and Wem Rural. The event was a moving tribute to the deep and enduring connections between the military and North Shropshire, a region with a long history of support for the armed forces.
The service highlighted the strong bond that the military has with this part of the county, celebrating the shared history and mutual respect that have developed over the years. Attending the service were several notable figures, including Councillor Huw Edwards, Chair of Wem Rural Parish Council, Councillors Goode and Matthews. Their presence underscored the significance of the occasion and the continued support of the Parish Council for honoring local and national heritage.
It was also a pleasure to see Peter Broomhall, Shropshire County Councillor, who joined the gathering and further demonstrated the collaborative spirit and respect that characterize the relationships within the community.
