The trustees of NS Wheelers Community Bus have made significant strides in strengthening the organisation. They have successfully achieved formal Charity status as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) recognised by the Charities Commission. Additionally, they acquired two new minibuses, one of which was generously donated by the Steve Morgan Foundation.

A notable milestone was a successful Volunteer Recruitment event, held with the support of the Grocott Foundation at their premises in Prees. This event attracted a significant number of volunteers, including minibus and car drivers, passenger assistants, and administrative helpers. After the induction of these new volunteers, NS Wheelers is now able to accommodate even more passengers, enhancing their service capacity.

In July, NS Wheelers collaborated with Wem Rotary to transport over sixty people on canal trips from Lyneal Wharf and Whixall Marina. Another Wem group is scheduled for transportation to Lyneal Wharf in August. Furthermore, the organisation has increased the number of “individual journeys” to medical appointments, while the passenger numbers on their regular market bus services continue to rise.

Additionally, NS Wheelers recently received a £500 grant from Wem Rural Parish Council. This contribution will go towards the operational costs of running their bus services, further supporting their mission to provide accessible transportation to the community.

Although NS Wheelers has welcomed many new volunteers, they are still in need of more. Additional passengers are also encouraged to reach out, as long as there are vehicles and drivers available to accommodate them.
